		<description>I had an idea for this just a little while ago!  

I AM a spinner so I will tell you a few basic things- When someone starts spinning yarn, it is called a singles-never a 1-ply yarn!  If the spinner decides to ply it, it needs to be spun in the opposite direction of the singles that make it up.  One big problem is that a derailleur will only turn the wheel in one direction.  Now it IS possible to have a wheel simply for spinning singles or plying, it's just slightly less economical.  My boyfriend has a Trek mountain bike fitted with a gear shifting system that is just a lever, and tht is what gave me the idea, being able to "increase the throttle" with just a lever.  If I ever come across the parts for cheap, I certainly would build it!! :D</description>

		<description>Hi just got a t30 from one of my friends with a fried motherboard I replaced the motherboard and now get a 4 by 4 beep cycle and blank screen. I was wondering if you had the same problem. 

In any case i removed the little yellow battery (i think the cmos battery). If this doesn't work I am going to make the circuit board as well thanks for the pictures.</description>

Are you saying that the simple device you built was able to remove the Admin Password on the EEPROM? I have similar problem with my T30. I have thought that simple replacement of CMOS battery would do the magic, but the problem is still there. Always asking for Password after displaying error 0271.
Can you please, give me more detailed information about this device.

here's another idea about increasing renewable generation capacity:   site solar plants in s. humboldt near the main transmission line that comes north from mendocino county, and in e. humboldt by the main transmission line that comes west from the central valley.   as these are the key incoming capacity constraints, turn them into maximum export facilities during peak sunshine hours.   that is, export full capacity across the lines to the grid during daylight, then reverse the flow during non-daylight from the grid to cover local demand within the county.   thus, build two sets of solar capacity, one for local demand, and one for export.

2. can you re-size (increase) the solar and wind generation in your model so that the net surplus exported by humboldt matches the capacity gap between biomass generation and hours of excessive power demand?   how about a second wind farm and a third solar facility?

this way you would have a theoretical net of zero rather than a negative as you have at present.

i'm not a spinner but i believe it requires at least one hand free to moderate the flow of fiber.   so, i would take this design in two directions.

1. chances are in the third world a stationary bicycle is already used extensively to power micro-businesses that spin fiber into thread or yarn.   try googling for images (lacking broadband, i suggest someone else search the net).   this covers the small scale semi-automated production pattern.

2. for the solo spinner, a foot treadle leaving both hands free to moderate the flow of fiber is probably optimal for a human powered spinning operation.

I use distance when figuring out which zone gets power from which source -- aiming of course for minimum distance. Part of the idea is leaving T&#038;D out of the model so I do not take substations into account nor phase angle of power, etc. Including that would be far too complex and defeat the purpose (just noting that because it's the first item many power folks mention). I could just calculate total demand and total supply and place them side-by-side. But I feel it's much more instructional to see the locations of the sources. Originally, I was going to include a power loss over distance but have instead opted for preference to nearest sources. I will post a couple images of the model running later this week.
